Focusing The Sale Presentation
Sales presentations can be the make or break in any sale. However they are all too often neglected, and treated as something that has to be done rather than as an opportunity. For example, sales people usually cover 4 to 8 different areas/features in their presentation, yet it is very unlikely that the people who were listening to the presentation will remember anything except the features that relate to their needs. Therefore it is important to tailor the presentation to the needs of the people listening. This can be done in many different ways.
An important part of the sales presentation is research. While some of the sales presentation can be generic, it is important that you research the companies you are presenting to and provide them with information that is relevant to them. People will buy if you appeal to their emotions and then help them justify it logically. It is important that you get as much information as possible from the customer as you give the presentation, so that you can then move the presentation forward in the right direction.
The most important thing when helping sales people to learn how to tailor the presentation to a particular customer is to emphasise the fact that they need to be flexible and take on board all the information they learn from the customer and use it to shape the presentation.
