When a client wants to get in contact with the company, who is the first person that they encounter when they call? Is it a call center? A receptionist? A telephone answering machine? Whoever is free to take the phone? Whoever the entry point into the company is, it is important that the customer is handled correctly at this point. If the customer is handled courteously and with respect, it can make the job of whoever has to deal with the clients issue or request a lot easier. If the client feels that they are being listened too, it makes it a lot easier for customer services to do their job.
Training the people who are the first contact for clients is essential. If the first contacts know how to treat and respond to the clients and their needs, it allows them to make a good impression on the client and hopefully solve any issues that the client may have without causing any new ones.
